Roasted Chickpeas are a nutritious snack that satisfies the little cravings we have here and there. This crispy treat makes also a great topping for salads and a great breading for a lentil loaf.
These roasted chickpeas (garbanzo beans) are made without oil and can be made in different flavors as shown in the recipe. Keep in mind the roasting time changes from recipe to recipe as well as the kind of chickpeas you are using.
Important is that Chickpeas are well-drained and have little to no moisture left. If you chose the cinnamon recipe keep in mind that the maple syrup caramelizes, so the cooking time should be reduced by 5-10 minutes. You also want to spray a little oil into the baking pan before placing the chickpeas into it, that will prevent the backing onto the pan.
However, taste chickpeas as often as possible during the roasting process to achieve your favorite taste and texture, this is because every oven heats differently.
If you like vinegar chips then you like chickpeas flavored with vinegar. All you have to do is to marinate chickpeas in vinegar for about 15-20 minutes the night before. Important is to drain and dry them thoroughly, then follow the recipe.
Another great flavor combination is taco seasoning. Crispy chickpeas flavored with taco seasoning go well with guacamole and hummus.
